The Life of Irene G Reinert

Irene G. (Hines) “Elsie” Reinert, 87, formerly of Macungie, died on Saturday, July 1, 2017, in County Meadows of Allentown, Upper Macungie Township.  She was the widow of Raymond H. Reinert, who died December 24, 2009.

Born in Bethany, Louisiana, she was a daughter of the late Horace G. and Irene A. (Gulley) Hines. Mrs. Reinert was a member of Zion Lehigh Lutheran Church, Alburtis, where she was a former church council member, a member of the Lydia Ladies, and an active member of the Bible Study Group. Irene received a bachelor's degree from Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, Louisiana, in 1952, she also graduated from the T. S. Schumpert Hospital School of Medical Technology and was a Certified Technologist in Blood Banking from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Mrs. Reinert retired from the former Allentown General Hospital, Allentown, as the Director of Transfusion Services. Elsie, as she was affectionately referred to, enjoyed gardening and birds.

Irene is survived by Sons, Kevin H., husband of Kathleen S. (McGinley) Reinert, Summerfield, NC; Eric R., husband of Brenda E. (Berger) Reinert, Breinigsville; and David G. Reinert, Macungie; Daughter, Anna Marie (Reinert), wife of W. Peter Murphy, Avalon, NJ. Other survivors include Sisters, Joan (Hines), widow of Herbert Gandy, and Carole (Hines), widow of Miguel Pacheco, both of Shreveport, LA; Grandchildren, Aaron M. Reinert, Jared D. Reinert, Joshua S. Reinert, Allison M. Reinert, Carolyn M. (Murphy) Kozlik, Twins, Kaitlin M. Reinert and Abigail S. Reinert. There is a Great Granddaughter, Kylie J. Reinert. Irene was predeceased by a Sister, Shirley (Hines) Groome; a Brother, H. Grady Hines; and a Granddaughter, Alaine B. Murphy.

Funeral services for Irene will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 10:30 AM at Saint Paul's United Church of Christ, 1249 Trexlertown Road (Route 100), Trexlertown, with Reverend Al Bastin, officiating. Interment will follow in Huffs Church Union Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the church.
