The Life of Dr. Dustin Cade Draughon
Funeral
services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017, at an 11:00 AM Mass of
Christian Burial in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, for Dustin
Cade Draughon, age 29, who passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in
Birmingham, Alabama.
Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his parents, Steve and Lisa Draughon; his sisters, Jennifer Junot and husband Justin, and Amy Draughon; his nephews, Kaden and Luke Junot; his maternal grandfather, Paul Sellers; his paternal grandmother, Becky Draughon; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Gloria Sellers; his paternal grandfather, Ralph Draughon; and his aunt, Sandi Cumbaa.
A native of Lafayette, and a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, Dustin was in residency as an anesthesiologist at University of Alabama at Birmingham. He was a 2006 graduate of Ovey Comeaux High School in Lafayette and was a 2010 graduate of ULL with a major in Biology and Chemistry. He then went on to Tulane Medical School in New Orleans and was a 2014 graduate with a Doctorate of Medicine.
Even as a young child, Dustin was a conscientious, compassionate, and sensitive person. He always strove for excellence and devoted his life to achieving his dream of becoming a doctor of medicine.
As we all mourn his passing, may we always remember his kind heart, quick wit, and ability to debate on any topic. He was like a shooting star - shining brilliantly across God''s heavenly sky.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
