The Life of Thelma Humphrey

Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Mrs. Thelma Dugas Humphrey, 69, who passed away on April 19, 2017 at her residence.

Deacon Frank Cormier will conduct the funeral service.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Thelma, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Ernest Dugas and the former Lacey Schexnayder. Mrs. Thelma was a strong, caring, and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing and playing Bouree. Her family gave color to her life. She was a grand character who always had something to say.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Howard Humphrey; children, Phyllis Crochet and husband David, Ronald Vercher, Johnny Vercher and Troy Humphrey; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Gil Dugas and fiance Jonathan LeBrun.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Sonnier and two brothers, Ernest James Dugas and Robley Dugas.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home-Bertrand on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 8:00am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Brandin Cormier, Joe Knight, Greg Fritz, Cane Fritz, Jacque Fritz, and Dwayne Fontenot. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronald Vercher, Johnny Vercher and Troy Humphrey.

The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice for their care and compassion.
