The Life of Maureen A Bortz

Maureen A. (Kleintop) Bortz, 75, of Topton, formerly of Alburtis and Ancient Oaks, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 in her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the dedicated wife of Robert P. "Bob" Bortz, whom she married on March 11, 1961.

Born in Allentown, Maureen was a daughter of the late Curtis W. and Marguerite M. (Flickinger) Kleintop. She was a member of the former Dubbs Memorial U.C.C., Allentown, and a 1960 graduate of Parkland High School, Orefield. She was a homemaker and dog breeder, having bred many litters of AKC Collie pups over the years. Maureen enjoyed home-improvement and decorating projects around her home. She was very active with and proud of her Native American heritage. She enjoyed attending area pow-wows, and supporting Wolf Haven International and Running Strong for American Indian Youth associations. Maureen and her husband, Bob, enjoyed traveling to car shows and car cruises, both near and far, with their 1934 Ford street rod. "Baba," as she was fondly referred to by her grandchildren, loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her Husband of 56 years and caregiver, Bob, Maureen is survived by her two Children, Tammy A. (Bortz), wife of Robert W. Hoeveler, Jr., Douglassville, and Erik P., husband of Jennifer E. (Brehony) Bortz, Topton; 4 Grandchildren, Meghan N. (Smith), wife of Jonathan M. Quier, Taylor L. Bortz, Joshua W. Bortz and Cody W. Wessner; one Great Grandson, Greyson Zachary Quier and 4 Step-Grandchildren, Caprice C. Hoeveler, Shannon E. Hoeveler, Alexandria N. Brehony, and MyKalan I. Mendoza. She is also survived by a Brother, Barry C., husband of Jeanne M. (Mensinger) Kleintop, Bethlehem, 2 Aunts, Mary, widow of Joseph Urban, Salisbury, NC, and Marion, wife of Vincent Ortwein, Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews. Maureen was predeceased by her Parents, and a Grandson, Zachary D. Smith on July 7, 2005.

A memorial service to celebrate Maureen's life will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

Pam and I will miss Maureen greatly. She was always in good spirits, even with her health issues. She had an infectious smile. Rest in God's arms my friend.
