The Life of Bernice Langlinais

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Bernice Langlinais, 94, who died peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at her residence in Lafayette. She sleeps in heavenly peace.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Gilbert Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Dru Richard, Gayle Milam and Charlie Milam. Jodi Bollich, organist and soloist, will sing for the services "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles'' Wings", "Ave Maria", "Halleluia", and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Survivors include her two daughters, Flodry "Flo" Ann Richard and Beverly Ann Lagneaux; two grandchildren, Drusilla "Dru" Ann Richard and Gayle Pauline Broussard Milam and her husband, Brent Ray Milam and one great grandchild, Charles Joseph "Charlie, C.J." Milam; and two brothers, Ulysses "Shubee" Langlinais and Carol Langlinais.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Romuald Langlinais and Louisa Gallet Langlinais; her twin sister, Bertha Langlinais Lena; and two brothers, Yule Langlinais and Pervis Langlinais.

A native of Milton, Louisiana and a Lafayette resident for seventy-six years, Bernice attended Milton Elementary School. In her younger years, she was a hostess at Toby''s Oak Grove. Welcoming families for dinner and dancing was a delight for Bernice and she was certainly an addition to their evening.

Bernice was a devout Catholic. She had deep affection for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Bernice was a frequent visitor to New Orleans and her face lit up when she heard "Walking to New Orleans". She loved music, dancing and dining, especially french bread and seafood.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Monday from 8:30 AM until time of the service.

A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc Monday at 10:00 AM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bernice''s name may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 or to Ascension Episcopal School, 1030 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA 70501.

Bernice''s family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana for the wonderful care given in her final days.
