The Life of Rita Rae Thibodeaux

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Rita Rae Thibodeaux, 81, who passed away on January 5, 2017.

Reverend Daniel Edwards, Pastor of St. Jules Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rita worked at Sears for 18 years then owned and operated Rae''s Catering. She was active in Lafayette Parish 4-H. Her passion was cooking and spending time with family and friends. Rita never met a stranger. Her kindness and generosity made her an amazing person. She will be deeply missed by all whos lives were touched by her.

Rita, a resident of Lafayette, was the daughter of the late Herbert M. Matthews and Aline G. Champagne.

She is survived by her children, Keith W. Thibodeaux and wife, Toni, Karl "Tommy" Thibodeaux and wife, Liz and Klarisse Darby and husband, Malcolm; grandchildren, Ryan Thibodeaux, Raime Thibodeaux, Dustin Thibodeaux, Andrew Thibodeaux, Brandon Darby and wife, Brittany and Jake Darby; one great granddaughter, Addison Darby; one brother, Terry Champagne and wife, Debbie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lawrence Thibodeaux.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be her sons, son-in-law and grandsons.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Chastant II, Pat Lege, Delores Lantier, Skip and Viv Sutter and Maxine and Pat Hebert for their compassionate care.
