Born in Grandfield, OK on February 2, 1929 to John and Nellie Ferguson, Lois was the eldest of three children and the quintessential product of her time and generation. A strong believer in self-reliance and education, she left a legacy of hard work, dignity and independence to her family. She took great pride in continuing to live independently and her advice and wisdom were highly sought and valued.

A graduate of Oklahoma City College for Women, she met her husband of 35 years, Bill Moody, Jr., at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX during the Korean War. They traveled and lived extensively throughout South America and California, before settling in Lafayette, LA in the late 1960’s and becoming involved in the oil and gas industry.

Lois was a beloved employee of Ambassador Carwash, where she was fondly known by all as "Mama Moody." Devoted to her job as bookkeeper, she often stated that "she didn''t plan on retiring anytime soon!" She was an active member of The Red Hat Society and the Society of Petroleum Engineers Wives Club - an avid Bridge player, league bowler, extraordinary cook and exceptional baker. She also loved to travel, having participated in many group excursions including "Mystery Club" bus tours and Elvis-themed cruises. Lois was known for her sense of style and hosted memorable parties, barbeques and dinners at her former home on Martial Avenue in Lafayette. A perennial fixture at LaFonda’s, Don’s and Riverside Inn restaurants - she was known to have a fondness for a Margarita (or two) and country/western music. A woman with a wicked sense of humor (and who secretly devoured romance novels), Lois took advantage of every moment of a life well-lived and had recently returned from a 10-day cruise through the Alaskan Inland Passageway and a Luke Bryan concert in Dallas, TX.

Her presence will be missed but her legacy will be forever cherished.

Pallbearers will be Dylan J. McKie, John C. Moody, William H. Moody IV, William B. Moody, Jeremiah Chambers, J.D. Morein and Douglas Yentzen.
