The Life of Robert Dean Snyder

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers - Bertrand for Robert Dean Snyder, 92, who passed away on December 25, 2016.

Reverend Drew Sutton, Pastor of First United Methodist Church - Lafayette will conduct the funeral services.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Snyder, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Ollie Snyder and the former Bertha Woods.

Dean was a WW II Army Air Corps veteran. He was stationed in London during the war. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1952 with a MS in Geology. Dean worked in the oil exploration industry for 50 years, 33 years here in Lafayette. He still owned a Littleton, IL farm where he visited serveral times a year. He was an geologist by trade but his heart was in farming where he could get anything to grow. Robert Dean enjoyed fellowship and morning coffee at the Petroleum Club of Lafayette.

Dean was a member of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists and The American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol L. Johnson and husband, Richard and Linda K. Cecconi and husband, John; grandchildren, Major Matthew G. Patton, Rebecca L. Parker, Elise C. Sonnier, Emily J. Johnson, Britney L. Cecconi and John Robert Cecconi; great grandchildren, Cannon Patton, Mitchell Patton, Andrew Patton, Eleanor Sonnier, Emaline Sonnier, Hayes Parker, Hannah Parker and Hadley Parker and brother, Keith Snyder of Springfield, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Melba L. Snyder; daughter, Sharon S. Snyder and brother, John W. Snyder.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be Richard C. Johnson, John Cecconi, Major Matthew Patton, Mark Parker, Scott Sonnier and John Robert Cecconi.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Lafayette.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
