The Life of Nelma LaJean Renoux
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday Dec. 21, 2016, at 2:00pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Nelmo LaJean Renoux, 85, who passed away peacefully with family at her side on December 18, 2016 at Cornerstone Village South.
Fr. Steve LeBlanc , Pastor of St. Pius X, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Nelmo was born in Rockford, Alabama on June 18, 1931. She was a resident of Lafayette for most of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Pius Catholic Church in Lafayette and, at one time, served as the church''s Sacrastine after her retirement from teaching second grade for over 25 years at Plantation Elementary School and Montgomery Elementary School.
Nelmo was an avid reader and loved spending time with family and friends as well as volunteering at the public library.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Pierre Renoux; her parents Elgin Williams and Ruby Samuels Williams of Alabama; her fourth child Catherine Elizabeth Renoux; and her brother Robert Elgin Williams.
She is survived by her three children Philip Renoux and wife Cheryl of Lafayette, La, Serge Renoux and wife Leesa of Lafayette, LA, Christine Huffman and husband Mark of Cedar Park, Texas. Her grandchildren Samuel Huffman of Austin, Tx, Amanda Higgs and husband Paul and their children Aubrey and Gunner of Tennessee, Jenna Parrinello and husband Ryan and their children Abel and Lucas of Houston, TX, Ian Renoux of Lafayette, Lance Renoux of Newport Oregon, Emily Thibodeaux and husband Eric and their daughter Madelyn Thibodeaux of Lafayette.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Cornerstone South for the compassionate care given to Nelmo and her family.
The family requests a recitation of the Rosary on Wednesday at 1:00pm at St. Pius X. The funeral mass will follow at 2:00pm
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
