The Life of Barbara Ann Faleide

Lafayette – Funeral services for Barbara Ann Irvin Faleide, 79, will be held Wednesday December 21,2016 at 12:30 PM in David Funeral Home, with Pastor Gary Funderburk of The Bayou Church officiating.   Visitation will be held Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 8:30AM until time of service,  burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Barbara was born November 9, 1937 in Baton Rouge La. she was a graduate of Lafayette High  School in 1955, received her B.A. from USL in 1958, and her M.E. from LSU in 1963.  Barbara was an elementary teacher in Lafayette Parish for 22 years. Music was the love of  her life, she played violin under Mrs. Pulley’s guidance at F.M. Hamilton Training  School, Mr. Gilfry at Lafayette High School, Dr. Barth at USL, and later with Mrs. Elaine  Flannery. Barbara was an active member of the Acadiana Symphony at its inception,  Lafayette Community Strings Chamber Group, USL Orchestra and her string Quartet. She was  also very active in many bridge groups and clubs, new Acadians Club, New Comers Club and Oil Wives Bridge Club.

She is survived by her husband Gerhard “Skeeter” Faleide; and her son John P. Coleman III.

Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Lydia Onderdonk; her parents Gorden and
Effie Simon Irvin.

David Funeral Home 316 Youngsville Hwy 337-837-9887 is in charge of arrangements.
