The Life of Vernon Landry

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Mrs.Vernon Hebert Landry, age 90, who died on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Heidi Cooksey and Jennifer Patin. Giftbearers will be her granddaughters, Heather Landry, Heidi Cooksey, Holly Mire, Jennifer Patin and Taylor Melancon. Rafael Henry, organist and soloist, will sing for the services.

Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Mire and her husband Darrel of Biloxi; Paula Patin and her husband Darrell of Breaux Bridge and Tracey Melancon and her husband Terry of Carencro; two sons Glenn Landry of Lafayette and Darrell Landry and his wife, Gayle of Lafayette; one sister, Joyce Thomas of Lafayette; one brother, Harold Hebert and his wife, Theresa of Lafayette; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one due in April; her special friend, Sister Mary Tarsisus and her beloved canine companion, Zoe.

She was preceded in death by her husband Linton P. Landry on August 17, 2007; her parents, Elize Hebert and the former, Nedia Baudoin, both natives of Maurice, Louisiana; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Louviere Landry and one great granddaughter, Laikyn Louise Melancon.

Mrs. Landry was born in Maurice, Louisiana on December 31, 1925 and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a devout parishioner at St. Genevieve Catholic Church, and served on the Ladies Altar Society. Mrs. Landry was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons Creig Landry, Toby Landry, Blake Landry, Heath Mire, Huey Mire, Daniel Patin and Tyler Melancon.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:00 PM by Sister Mary Tarsisus in Martin & Castille Funeral
