The Life of Waldo Joseph Thibodeaux

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016, at a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Waldo J. Thibodeaux, 88, who died on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, in Lafayette will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Rebecca Thomas and Jacey Wilkerson. Giftbearers will be Dawn McDonald and Jessica Fussell. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Notre Pere", "The Lover''s Waltz" and "J''rail La Voir Un Jour" for the services. Tommy Benoit will accompany on the violin.

Survivors include his three daughters, Sue Thomas and husband Glenn, Debora Wilkerson, and Ginger Guillory and friend David Babineaux all of Lafayette; one son, Keith J. Thibodeaux and wife Charlotte of Houston; two brothers, John P. Thibodeaux and wife Della, and C.J. Thibodeaux and wife Dee; six granddaughters, Dawn McDonald and husband Mike, Jessica Fussell and husband Mike, Samantha Guillory, Marguerite and Claire Thibodeaux and Lauren Loomis; three grandsons, Tim Thomas, Mike Thomas and wife Rebecca, and Brad Wilkerson and wife Jacey; six great granddaughters, Lily, Molly Kate, and Corinne Fussell, Maddie Grace Thomas, Kenzi Roy, and Juliette Wilkerson; and one great grandson, Luke Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Lou Borel Thibodeaux; his parents, Cyril and Amelie Lopez Thibodeaux; his brothers, Zerben and Reeves Thibodeaux; three sisters, Mable Eiseman, Marie Dore, and Ethel Laviolette; two grandchildren, Allison Wilkerson and Ross Guillory; and his son in law, Floyd Wilkerson.

A native of Broussard and resident of Lafayette, Mr. Thibodeaux served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for the city of Lafayette for 33 years and retired as a supervisor.

Waldo was affectionately called “Pop” by his grandchildren,“Grand Pop” by his great grandchildren, and "Pine" by his siblings. He was an exceptional, hard working man, who passionately pursued his hobby of raising pure bred cattle. He will be remembered most for his kindness and generosity to friends and strangers. He will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers will be Tim and Mike Thomas, Brad Wilkerson, Mike McDonald, Mike Fussell, and David Babineaux.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Samantha Guillory, Marguerite and Claire Thibodeaux, and Patricia Winkler.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday at 5:00 PM in the funeral home.
