The Life of Alfred Sol Lippman
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 12 Noon in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Alfred Sol Lippman, age 78, who died on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at Lafayette Memorial Park.
Alfred Sol Lippman spent the final days of his life surrounded by his beloved family, professing his absolute love and gratitude for each member. His essence pours from the love and passion of his heart and he generously lavished his love and passion on his family, friends and those who crossed his path. His family will forever cherish the grandiose way in which he embellished with great pride their accomplishments. Al, a most accomplished man, would undoubtedly consider his 60 years of marriage to his wife Gail to be his greatest accomplishment. To his final breath, he still saw her as his beautiful bride, and the love of his life. The tender, sweet love notes professing his love for her will be cherished forever.
A world traveler who fancied exotic and exciting destinations, most loved his fishing and hunting trips to Plum Bayou, Cocodrie and Pecan Island with family and friends. He relished the thrill of the hunt and the catch.
If there was ever a life that exemplified the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have the do unto you; it is the life of Al Lippmann. His family describes him as an amazing, amazing man slow to anger, and quick to forgive. He was that one friend of a lifetime who respected others, lead with honor, and treated others with mercy and fairness. This dapper dresser was a legendary in the behind-the -scenes world of politics.
His words of comfort for his family were shared for many years; “This too shall pass, it is always darkest before the dawn.” This lover of history was proud of who he was, a Louisiana man, an American.
I submit to you, that this man of great faith is resting in the arms of our loving God.
Rabbi Barry Weinstein and Very Reverend Monsignor Richard Greene, VE will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist will sing for the services, "The Lord''s Prayer", "Amazing Grace", "What A Wonderful World" and "The Wind Beneath My Wings".
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gail Poche Lippman; his three children, Beth Lippman Busbice and her husband Bill, David Lippman and his wife, Angie, and Karen Lippman; his nine grandchildren, Ryan Busbice and his wife, Laura, Matthew Busbice, Sarah Busbice Dickerson and her husband, Jesse, Michelle Lippman Boudreaux and her husband, Josh, Andree Lippman, Kelli Lippman, Michael Lippman, Ashleigh Schneider and William Schneider; six great grandchildren, Emma and Ella Dickerson and Christian, Madeline, Noelle and Chloe Busbice; his brother, Darryl Lippman and his wife, Lynn and his sister, Tanya Murray.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Lippman Jr., and the former Dorothy Kahn; his grandson, Jason Busbice.
Mr. Lippman was born on June 12, 1938 in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Berwick/Morgan City. He and his wife, Gail moved to Lafayette several years ago. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Stanislaus College Prep, in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi and was Valedictorian of his class. Mr. Lippman attained his Undergraduate at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Lafayette, La. (B.A.with Honors) - 1960 and Tulane University School of Law (recipient of full merit/academic scholarship) Juris Doctorate - 1962.
Mr. Lippman was a Senior partner with The Law Offices of Alfred S. Lippman, LLC, Lippman & Mahfouz, LLC and predecessors - Attorneys at Law, Morgan City, Louisiana) He served at Whitney Bank - Former Member of the Board of Directors (2011-14);
Hancock Bank - Former Advisory Member of the Board of Directors (2012-14);
Whitney National Bank and Whitney Holding Corp. - Former Member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee - (1998-2011)
and numerous other business interests including real estate and investments.
