The Life of Rodney Howard Carter Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at a 2:00 PM Baptist Service in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Rodney Carter, Sr, 86, who died on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pastor Bob Nolan will conduct the funeral services.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Helen Williams Carter; two daughters, Helen Jeffreys and her husband, David and Roxanne Williams and her husband, Michael Sr.; two sons, Rodney Carter Jr. and his wife, Deborah and Richard C. Carter Sr. and his wife, Lisa; one brother, Ronnie Carter and his wife, Janice; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur H. and Lillie May Leggett Carter; one son, Wayne Randall Young; one sister, Ruth Gault; and one grandson, Rodney H. Carter III.

Rodney Carter was born in Middletown, Ohio and was a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He graduated from West Elkton High School in West Elkton, Ohio. Mr. Carter was a proud veteran of military service, and was drafted into the United States Army on March 5, 1951. He served as an MP (Military Policeman) in Austria during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged on February 14, 1953. Mr. Carter was a family man, loved carpentry, crossword puzzles, and reading the Sunday "funnies" in the newspaper. He was also a devout member of Central Baptist Church for over 41 years. Mr. Carter enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Carter, Jr., Wesley Carter, Ashley Young, Brian Roger, Kirk Domingue and Fred Bernard. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Carter Jr., Rodney Paul Carter, Thomas Avery Carter, David Jeffreys, Michael Williams Sr. and Michael Williams Jr.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 12:00 PM until time of services.
