The Life of James Judice

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for James Judice, age 88, who died peacefully at 9:25 PM on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Interment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Chester Arceneaux, Rector, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Marsha Judice and Angelle Adams. Giftbearers will be his five daughters and the Eulogist will be his son, Clay Judice, Sr. Eucharistic Ministers will be Kay Judice and Patti Judice. Raymond Hebert, accompanied on the organ by Tom Niel, trumpet by Will Green and violin by Lauren Baker, will sing for the Funeral Mass "Amazing Grace", "Psalm 23", "Wherever You Go", "How Great Thou Art", "Be Not Afraid", and "Battle Hymn of the Republic".

Left to cherish his memories include his loving devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Elsie Hamilton Judice; son, Randy Judice(Matsie), son, Clay Judice, Sr.(Patti), son, Kim Judice, Sr.(Kay), daughter, Claire Guidry(George), daughter, Della Luquette(Doug), daughter, Molly Lavin(Bobby), daughter, Cindy Hebert(Steven), daughter, Ellen Goodyear(Mark) and son, Will Judice, Sr.(Marsha); thirty-seven grandchildren, Angelle Adams(Anthony), Natalie Duhon(Josh), Nichole Romero(Brandon), Clay Judice, Jr.(Wendy), Edgar Judice, Adam Judice(Maghann), Kevin Judice, Ann-Marie Parker(Jason), Patrick Judice(Sarah), Emily Foreman(Andrew), Thomas Judice(Stephanie), Katherine Judice, Amanda Claire Judice, Michelle Melchior(Chuck), Jeannine Hussey(Jo), Garrett Guidry, Bennett Guidry(Kaci), Jeanelle Lowery(Jonas), Andrew Luquette, Camille Veron(Brian), Rachel Luquette, Erin Luquette, Anna Luquette, Jake Lloyd Lavin, Nick Lavin(Meghan), Mary Margaret Lavin, Elise Hebert, Elliot Hebert, Julia Hebert, Amelia Hebert, Mark-Allen Goodyear(Ashley), Yvonne Bienvenu(Andrew), Mitchell Goodyear, Jason Goodyear, Joel Judice, Matthew Judice and Ben Judice; forty-one great grandchildren, with two on the way; and one sister, Doris Knobloch.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valsin Judice and Lucy Hernandez Judice; one sister, Genevieve Didier DeWitt; and two grandchildren, Jake Lloyd Lavin and Amanda Claire Judice.

A native and resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for all of his life, Mr. Judice was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.

Mr. Judice was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute(now UL-L) prior to proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Navy stationed at the Naval Electric Motor Repair Base in San Diego, CA.

Upon his return from the service, he established Judice Electric Motor Company in 1948. He, along with his wife, Elsie, owned and operated it for sixty-seven years. His youngest son,Will and his wife, Marsha, continue to operate the business to this day.

Mr. Judice was a very gentle man with a kind, loving and generous heart. He was a very devout Catholic, praying three daily rosaries for the past forty-six years. Mr. Judice was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church for sixty-seven years.

He enjoyed following his children''s and grandchildren''s activities throughout their lives. He had a love of music, teaching himself to play the accordion, piano and harmonica, enjoyed dancing and most of all spending time with family.

Pallbearers will be the oldest sons of his children, Clay Judice, Jr., Thomas Judice, Garrett Guidry, Andrew Luquette, Nick Lavin, Elliot Hebert, Mark-Allen Goodyear and Joel Judice.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Friday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed by Brady LeBlanc on Friday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
