The Life of Douglas Wayne Trahan

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at a 2:00 PM Catholic Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Douglas "Doug" Trahan, 69, who died on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Deacon Cody Miller will conduct the funeral services.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Janice West Trahan; one daughter, Cherie Trahan Altman and her husband, James; one sister, Ellen Trahan Richard and husband, John "Butch"; two brothers, James Trahan and wife, Cindy and Eugene Beard; and five grandchildren, Gillian, Elizabeth, Ayanna, Jamilyn and Ethan James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Lee and Louetta LeBouef Trahan; one brother, David Lee Trahan.

Douglas Wayne Trahan was a native of Lake Charles, Louisiana and resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a Veteran of military service, proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps during Viet Nam. Doug retired from AT & T as an Electronic Technician with 35 years of service. He was a member of The Communication Workers of America Local 3406, and served as Vice President and President. Doug worked for AFL-CIO for 5 years in Lake Charles. He did volunteer work for Cerebral Palsey of LA from 1973 -1992, when he became President and served on the Board of Directors to present. He was also an active member of the Telephone Evangeline Pioneers. Doug was a loving husband, father, paw paw, brother, and friend who will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be James Altman, John O''Banion, Ted Givens, Tony Hobbs, Johnny Johnson, and Bill Manier.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN Location on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 11:00 AM until time of services.

Donations may be made in Mr. Trahan''s name to Cerebral Palsy of Louisiana, 205-B Enterprise Drive Houma, La 70360.
