The Life of Mr. Keith Philip Thomas

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum for Keith Philip Thomas, 65, who died Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at his residence in Lafayette. Keith was the son of Otis Victor Thomas, Sr. and Elaine Rees Thomas.

Keith lived in Baton Rouge for many years where he worked as a Designer at Jacobs Engineering. He had a great zest for life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, travel and working on art projects. For many years, he was the proud owner of a Harley-Davidson and enjoyed going on road trips with his fellow “Hogs”. One of the highlights was a trip to Sturgis for the Harley rally.

Keith retired in November 2015 to be able to spend time with his 93 year old father. He was a devoted son and made Dad’s last few weeks comfortable and peaceful. After Dad passed away, Keith was looking forward to a long well-deserved              retirement. He had many plans- traveling, working on art projects, taking classes at ULL, working with Acadiana Open      Channel, teaching his sister how to cook and watching his great-nieces and great-nephew grow up.

Unfortunately, Keith was diagnosed with terminal cancer in February. He was able to get his affairs in order and say goodbye to his family and friends. He faced this horrible situation with courage, dignity and humor. Keith’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his brothers, Vic Thomas and wife Susie Gregg of Carmel, Valley, CA, and Glenn Thomas and wife Sue of Lafayette; his sister, Mary Kay Thomas of Lafayette; his nephews, Tim Thomas, Scott Thomas and wife Tracy, and Mike Thomas and wife Rebecca; his nieces Kristi Thomas, Erika Thomas Johnson and husband Gary, and Jessica Thomas Fussell and husband Mike; one great-nephew Luke Thomas and five great-nieces Lily, Molly Kate and Corinne Fussell, Maddie      Thomas and Carolyn Johnson; his aunt Ophelia Rees Risley and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Ora Dell Epps, Sean Hebert, the nurses at First Option Home Health and Compassus Hospice. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and Acadiana Open Channel.

Keith P. Thomas and his family were cared for and entrusted final arrangements to Louisiana Funeral Services & Crematory, 108 Hardware Road Broussard, LA (337) 330-8006.
