The Life of Maude Mary Begnaud

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at a 10:00 AM Service at Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel for Maude Mary Roy Begnaud, age 81, who died on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Weldon Moak, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Broussard will conduct the funeral services.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Alton Paul "Fat" Begnaud; one daughter, Sadie Credeur and her husband, James B.; three sons, Charles C. "Bubba" Begnaud and his wife, Guadalupe, Jeffry Paul Begnaud and his wife, Ramona Joplin, all of Lafayette and Anthony James "Tony" Begnaud and his wife, Tana Hess of Franklin, NC; and eight grandchildren, Michelle McAdams, Jake Begnaud, Natalie Brent, Jacey Begnaud, Milagros Hernandez, Omar Cruz, Nielsen Begnaud, and Ana Michelle Begnaud; and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Roy and the former, Lois Taylor and two brothers, Charles L. Roy and Harry G. Roy, Sr.

Mrs. Begnaud was born on October 29, 1934 in Lafayette and grew up in California. She graduated from Huntington Beach HS in 1953. Mrs. Begnaud was big in Arts and Crafts and collected between 300 to 400 dolls. She was a very active participant in Brousssard Home Demonstration and held the office of President for a number of years. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an Insurance Claims Representative with Commercial Union for eleven years. She loved camping and loved her dog, Angelita. Maude was an avid bowler and won the women''s state championship in ''69. Mrs. Begnaud supported veterans groups and worked at the gift shop at St. John''s Cathedral. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Neal Begnaud, Ray Trahan, Charles McAdams, Jimmy Credeur, Jeff Brent, Jordan Roy and Charles Roy. Honorary Pallbearer will be Eamon McAdams.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Begnaud''s name to Bishop''s Services Appeal Diocese of Lafayette 1408 Carmel Drive Lafayette, LA 70501.
