The Life of Richard D Miller

Richard D. Miller, 86, of Rockland Township, died May 25, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Richard was the husband of Margory E. (Frey) Miller. They were married March 15, 1952.

Born in Reading, Richard, was a son of the late David J. and Martha (Beaver) Miller. Richard was a 1947 graduate of Fleetwood High School. Mr. Miller honorably and faithfully served our country as a corporal in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.  He received a Purple Heart, for wounds received in battle on August 12, 1950. Mr. Miller was a member of Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, Dryville, a member of Mertztown Rod & Gun Club, Pikeville Sportsmen's Association, Pine Creek Hunting Lodge and Horace M. Kieffer, Post 625, American Legion, Fleetwood. Richard enjoyed hunting, golfing, watching Gunsmoke and Bonanza television shows. Mr. Miller was employed as a machinist for many years at Special T Design and Manufacturing Company, Oley, until his retirement in 1991.

In addition to his Wife of 64 years, Margory, Richard is survived by Sons, Richard F. husband of Catherine M. (Sanders) Miller, Topton and Timothy D. husband of Rochelle L. (Angstadt) Miller, Mertztown. Other survivors include a Sister, Dorothy (Miller) Madeira, Kutztown; Grandchildren, Lisa Geist, Jodie Frey, Joshua Miller, Justin Miller and a Great Grandchild, Callie Rhode. Richard was predeceased by a Sister, Elizabeth (Miller) Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 11:00 AM from Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, (Dryville) Fleetwood, with Reverend Cheryl F. Meinschein, officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by Ray A. Master, Post 217, American Legion Honor Guard, Topton, in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Family and friends may call Tuesday, 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Richard's memory to Christ (Mertz) Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Kutztown, PA.
