The Life of Thomas F Ziegler
Thomas F. Ziegler, 100, of Topton, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he was a resident for two weeks. He was the loving husband of Bertha S. (Conrad) Ziegler, whom he married on February 8, 1936.
Born in Emmaus, he was a son of the late David F. and Mabel J. (Lorish) Ziegler. Thomas was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Topton, where he was a former member and Elder of the Church Consistory. He was employed as a Foreman in the Parts Department at the former Caloric Corp., Topton, for 44 years, retiring in 1981. Thomas was a 50-year member of Huguenot Lodge No. 377 F. & A. M., Kutztown and a member of Rajah Shrine, Reading. Thomas and his wife, Bertha, enjoyed square dancing and round dancing, traveling all the way to Texas to dance. He was also an avid golfer and bowler.
Thomas is survived by his Wife of 80 years, Bertha; 6 Children, Geraldine F. (Ziegler), wife of Lee H. Hertzog, Topton, Sandra J. (Ziegler), wife of Dennis E. Seibert, Topton, Terry N., husband of Elaine J. (Biery) Ziegler, Elizabethtown, Karen E. (Ziegler) Kemp, Topton, Donna D. (Ziegler) Herman, companion of Dennis G. Gillner, Mertztown, Connie S. (Ziegler), wife of Larry L. Geist, Bowers; Daughter-in-Law, Annette C. (George) Ziegler, widow of predeceased Son, Thomas D. Ziegler, who died on August 27, 1995; 10 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; and one Great-Great Grandson. He was predeceased by his Parents; Son; and 9 Brothers and Sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 122 West Franklin Street, Topton, with Reverend Roger M. Ulrich officiating. Interment will follow in Topton Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. A Masonic service will begin at 10:45 AM.
The family requests contributions be made in Thomas's memory to St. Peter's U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 122 W. Franklin St., Topton, PA 19562. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
