The Life of Ernest J Frederick

Ernest J. Frederick, 94, of Kutztown, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton, where he was a resident for over three years.  He was the husband of the late Marcella B. (Nesbit) Frederick, who died on June 6, 2000.

Born in Rockland Township, he was a son of the late George M. and Minerva (Moyer) Frederick. Mr. Frederick was a member of Saint John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown, and was a 1939 graduate of Kutztown Area High School. Ernest was a United States Navy veteran, serving our country in World War II. He was the owner and operator of E.J. Frederick Welding, Kutztown, for over 60 years, retiring in 2000.  He was a vendor at many area craft shows, displaying his welded artwork. He was also a member of the Artist Blacksmith Association of North America, Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, and was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by Daughter, Cynthia P. (Frederick), wife of John C. Schaeffer; and Son, Douglas E. Frederick, both of Kutztown; Brother, Lowell Frederick, Trexlertown; 3 Grandchildren, Jennifer M. (Moll), wife of Tisha D. Lau; Lindsey P. (Moll), wife of Todd S. Derstine and Zakary D. Frederick, fiancé of Katharine A. Moyer; and 4 Great Grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a Brother, Paul Frederick and a Sister, H. Marie (Frederick) Weisner Kress.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. Interment, with military honors, will be in Hope Cemetery, Dryville. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
