The Life of Emma H Shirk

Emma H. (Nolt) Shirk, 87, of Maxatawny Township, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 in her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Ivan W. Shirk who died December 3, 1996.

Born in Earl Township, Lancaster County, Emma was a daughter of the late Elam B. and Katie M. (Horning) Nolt.  Mrs. Shirk was a member of the Groffdale Conference of Mennonites and attended Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by Children, Mildred N. wife of Isaac H. Weaver, Shippensburg, Cumberland County, Irvin N. husband of Arlene B. (Martin) Shirk, Thorp, WI, Warren N. husband of Esther B. (Weaver) Shirk, Kutztown, Laura N. Shirk, with whom she resided, Alice N. (Shirk) wife of Warren B. Nolt, Newville, Cumberland County, Beatrice N. Shirk, with whom she resided, Clarence N. husband of Louise B. (Snyder) Shirk, Kutztown and Carl N. husband of Martha N. (Martin) Shirk, Riceville, IA. Other survivors include 2 Sisters, Anna H. (Nolt) widow of Daniel W. Stauffer, New Holland, Lancaster County and Lucy H. (Nolt) widow of Earl H. Martin, Himrod, NY. There are 47 Grandchildren and 134 Great Grandchildren. Mrs. Shirk was predeceased by 5 Brothers, 2 Sisters, a Granddaughter, Jolene M. Shirk and Great Grandchildren, Kenton Z. Shirk and Joann H. Nolt.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 9:30 AM in Center Mennonite Church, Kutztown. Interment in Center Mennonite Church Cemetery, Kutztown. Viewings will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the late residence, 135 Quarry Road, Kutztown.
