The Life of Elizabeth E Hemphill

Elizabeth E. “Betty” (Gouldner) Hemphill, 85, of Alburtis, died April 27, 2016, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Thomas S. Hemphill. They were married July 26, 1958.

Born in Alburtis, Betty was a daughter of the late George L. and Hattie M. (Derr) Gouldner. She was a dedicated member of Longswamp United Church of Christ, Mertztown. Betty participated in and assisted with many activities at the church. Elizabeth worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis, over ten years until her retirement in 1988.

In addition to her husband of 57 years, Thomas, Betty is survived by Daughters, Barbara A. (Hemphill) wife of Robert J. Hausman, Allentown and Nancy J. (Hemphill) wife of David A. Snyder, Sr., Alburtis. Other survivors include a Sister, Ruth M. (Gouldner) widow of Wesley Holland, Fleetwood. There are 4 Grandchildren, James R. Hausman, Kathy A. Hausman, David A. Snyder, Jr., and Cindy M. Snyder; and a Great Grandson, Evan S. Hausman.  Elizabeth was predeceased by Siblings Howard L. Gouldner, Harry G. Gouldner, Roy Gouldner and Grace E. (Gouldner) Arndt.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM, from Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, with Reverend Dr. Katherine E. Brearley, officiating. Interment in Longswamp Union Cemetery, Mertztown. Family and friends may call on Monday, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home.

The family requests contributions be made to Longswamp U.C.C. Church Memorial Fund, 200 Clay Road, Mertztown, PA 19539. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
