The Life of Larry Don Holbert

It is with heavy hearts and a deep sense of grief we share the passing of Larry Don Holbert on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

He was born August 8, 1939 in Brownwood, Texas, as the only child of the late Dolphus Holbert and the late Marie Hartman Holbert.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Brewer Holbert, daughter Leigh Ann Marks and husband, Gary Marks, daughter Larrin Ann Rockwell and husband, Thomas Rockwell, and son, Don Holbert. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mitchell Marks and wife Rebekah Marks, Bach Holbert, Claire Holbert, Wyatt Marks, Annie Rockwell, and Grace Rockwell.

Mr. Holbert was an avid handball player and longtime member of Red’s, Southland Conference football official, and dedicated bass fisherman at Toledo Bend. He began his career in the steel industry in 1962 with Earle M. Jorgensen Steel in Dallas. As President of Holbert Steel of La, he was dedicated to the steel needs of the oil industry.

The service will be held at Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 1030 Johnston St, Lafayette, La. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive visitors between 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27 at Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE Location, (600 E. Farrel Rd, Lafayette, La.)
