The Life of Eva E Smith Funk

Eva E. (Muth) Smith Funk, 95, of Topton, died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. She was the widow of Paul A. Funk, Sr., who died on August 31, 1995. Her first husband, George W. Smith, died on October 3, 1978.

Born in Trexlertown, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellamanda (Day) Muth. Mrs Funk was a member of Church of The Good Shepherd, United Church of Christ, Alburtis. She was employed as a sewing machine operator and packer for over forty years, retiring in 1988, having worked for the former Marcus Manufacturing, Topton, Keith Knitting Mills, Mertztown and Royal Manufacturing, Alburtis. Eva  was a member of the Topton Centennial Belles during the Topton Centennial Celebration in 1976. Eva was also known as "The Flower Lady of Topton", devoting up to six hours a day at one time to her flowers and taking care of her home.

Eva is survived by Sons, Reverend Gene W., husband of Sara L. (Miller) Smith, Coplay, Leon G., husband of Diane J. (Christman) Smith, Kutztown; Step-Son Paul, Jr., husband of  Joyce (Derr) Funk, Toms River, NJ; and Step-Daughter Linda (Funk) Payne, Perkasie. She is also survived by 3 Grandchildren, Michele Heath, Mark Smith and Andrew Smith; 4 Step-Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren and 8 Step-Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by both of her husband's; parents; 10 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Church of the Good Shepherd, United Church of Christ, Alburtis with Reverend Scott M. Sanders. Interment will follow in Lehigh Zion Cemetery, Alburtis. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church.

The family requests contributions be made in Eva's memory to Church of the Good Shepherd, U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 135 Quarry Road, Alburtis, PA  18011. Arrangements are by the Ludwick Funeral Home, Topton, PA.
