The Life of Wilma Jo Jarred

Her family is sad to announce the passing of Wilma Jo Robbins Jarred, age 90, who left this life on Friday March 11, 2016.

She is survived by her two sons, Danny Northcutt and wife Rosemary Parisi, Robert Jarred and wife Linda Parisi-Jarred of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Andrea Russo and husband Gregory Russo of Metairie, LA, Daniel Northcutt, Alexander Jarred, Nicholas Jarred and Christopher Jarred all of Lafayette, Rien Fertel of New Orleans, LA, and Thomas Fertel and wife Chloe of St. Helena, CA. She has two great grandchildren, Caroline and Claire Russo.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. “Red” Jarred, her parents Ezra and Oma Robbins and sister Verna Mae Bryant.

Ms. Jo, as she preferred to be called, was born in Cooter, Missouri May 25, 1925. Her family moved to Clinton, OK where she was raised. After WWII she moved to Shreveport and was employed with the telephone company, rising to become supervisor of the first computerized billing department of Bell Systems in Louisiana. She later transferred to Lafayette where she assumed the role of Chief Operator until the birth of her second son. Afterwards, she and Red owned and operated Lafayette Alarm Services, which continues to be a family operated business.

Ms. Jo was an active member of United Methodist Church of the Covenant. Although she had many artistic talents, her passion in life was porcelain painting. She was an active member of the Acadiana Porcelain Art Guild, serving in several officer and committee positions. Well into her eighties, she traveled the world, participating in porcelain shows and classes.
Loved and admired by many, Ms. Jo will be missed all who knew her.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the wonderful employees and volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, especially Debbie, Joanne and Pat as well as the staff of Cornerstone South for their passionate care for our mother especially April, Shonda, Edna & Kianna.

Funeral services will be handled by Martin and Castille-SOUTHSIDE, with a viewing Monday 5-8 p.m., Tuesday 9 a.m. until services commence at 10:30 a.m. in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel. Graveside services and interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery (2111 W. Pinhook Rd., Lafayette) immediately following.
