The Life of Gloria Anne Clark

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, celebrating the life of Gloria Anne Norman Clark, 79, who died Sunday, March 13, 2016.

Reverend Howard Blessing, Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Deacon Rickey Picard will serve as Deacon of the Mass. Lectors will be daughter-in-law, Tonya Clark and friend, Carol Olson. Gift bearers will be daughter, Michelle Binnings, and the grandchildren of Mrs. Clark. Eucharistic Ministers will be granddaughter Jenee Benoit and friend Dianne LeBlanc. Wayne Hebert, vocalist and Lisa Sheppert, accompanist will provide music for the services. Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Clark was born on February 27, 1937 in Ennis, Texas to Elvis I. Norman and Eula Mae Smith Norman. She was a resident of Lafayette for most of her life and was a member of Holy Cross Church community for 49 years.

Gloria was employed by the Diocese of Lafayette as Program Director for Adult Education and Evangelization from 1988-2002. She became known as “the evangelization lady” to many around the diocese. Gloria also served as the Director of Religious Education for the Holy Cross Catholic Church community from 1980-1986. She loved her work and was always excited to share her faith and to let others know how much God loves them. Prior to her work in the church parish, Gloria worked part-time at Sears as a telephone shopping representative.

After retiring in 2002, Gloria enjoyed traveling with her husband, Mike and spending time with her friends. She was a member of the Open Heart Theresians community for more than 30 years. She served as a volunteer for Hospice of Acadiana and for the American Heart Association. In addition, Gloria served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and greeter in her faith community. Most important to Gloria was her family and being with them as much as possible. She has been a blessing to all of her family as wife, mother, granny, sister, aunt and friend.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her son, Chuck Clark and his wife Tonya; daughter, Michelle Binnings and her husband, Mike; grandchildren David Binnings and his wife Jennifer, Lori McGrew and her husband Travis; Jenny Clark and her fiancé Jacob, Jenee and Jeremy Benoit, Matt and Paul Robichaux; great-grandchildren, Mia and Lila Binnings, Noelle and Avery Anne McGrew, Parker, Breckin and Rhylan Robichaux; brother Robert Norman; sisters-in-law, Sharon Norman, Mary Alice Clark, and Doris Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Michael (Mike) Clark, her parents, one brother, Roger Wayne Norman, and great-granddaughter, Madeline McGrew.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Clark, Mike Binnings, David Binnings, Jeremy Benoit, Travis McGrew, Robert Norman, Danny Burney, Matt and Paul Robichaux . Honorary pallbearers will be Roger and David Norman.

Visitation will be held in Martin & Castille’s SOUTHSIDE Lafayette location on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM , with a vigil service to be held at 7:00 PM and conducted by The Open Heart Theresians Community. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, caretakers DeAnne, Hazel, Jeanette, Debra and Laura, and all of Gloria’s friends - particularly those in the Open Heart Theresians Community - for their love and support during Gloria’s final journey.
