A Celebration of Life will be held for Kathryn “Kitty” Ryan, 89, who peacefully passed away Monday, February 29, 2016. The service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, located at 1100 Lee Avenue, Lafayette, LA.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Friday, March 4, 2016, from noon until the time of services, at First Baptist Church in Lafayette.

Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dr. Steve Horn, Pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate.

Kitty was born August 31, 1926 in Canton, MS and moved with her family to Alexandria, LA at the age of 10 years old. She graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria. Kitty married her childhood sweetheart, Louis “Lou Lou” Ryan whom she met at Bolton High School in 1940. They were married in 1946 after he returned from World War II.

Kitty had many friends and was loved by all who knew her. She was a member of First Baptist Church since 1952 and loved her Bible Study Group. For many years, she loved to play golf with friends at Acadian Hills Country Club. Kitty was also passionate about playing Bridge and loved her bridge buddies very much. Most of all, she loved spending time with her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kitty is survived by her beloved son, Mark Ryan and his wife, Debbey of Lafayette; one grandson, Michael Ryan of Lafayette; two granddaughters, Stacey Meadows of Fairbanks, AK and Aerielle Benoit of Lafayette; two great-grandchildren, Ender and Rumi Ryan, both of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Louis Victor Ryan Jr.; her parents, Colin and Jennie Monroe and five siblings, Les, Otho, James, Dan Kelly Monroe and Myrtle Luckett.

Pallbearers will be her longtime family friends, Ed Wittenberg, Frank Wittenberg, Leonard Wittenberg, Eric Langlinais, Steve Langlinais and Jimmy Plauche.
