The Life of Joseph James Tessier Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in St. Anthony Catholic Church for Joseph James Tessier, Jr., 88, who passed away on February 10, 2016.
Father Lambert Lein, Pastor will be the Celebrant of the Mass
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joseph, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Joseph Tessier and the former Edia Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice Taylor Tessier; children, Joseph James "Tessi" (Daisy) Shelvin, Joseph James (Claudette) Tessier, III of Mesa, AZ, Howard Junius (Mary) Tessier, Linda Tessier-Moten, Norma Faye Tessier and Floyd (Letitia) Tessier of Houston, TX; eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two sisters, Mary Alice Taylor of Houston, TX and Lydia (Paul) Mouton of Lafayette and one brother in law, Frank Taylor of Houston, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Cecilia Anderson, Stella Gary, Mary McZeal, Charles Tessier, Maxim Tessier, Theresa Isaac, Olivia St. Julien, John Tessier and Jimmy Tessier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 7:30 am until time of service. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Jamall Ian Tessier, Emon Rashad Ishmel Tessier, Blake McGinn, Kevin Joseph Shelvin, Jalen Jamal Shelvin, Eddie Dean Mouton and Willie Spiller.
Bay was an avid fisherman who loved to hunt and repair neighborhood cars. He cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph James Shelvin, Joseph James Tessier, Howard Junius Tessier, Floyd Tessier, Howard Junius Tessier, II, Frank Taylor, Brandon Lee Tessier and Jarvis Jade Tessier.
