The Life of Melvin Maurice Falgout

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM for Mel Falgout, 89, who passed away on February 9, 2016 at his residence. Military Honors will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Falgout, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Idie Falgout and the former Inez Falgout.

He was the owner of Mel''s Mobile for 26 years, United States Navy World War II veteran, honorary Knights of Columbus member, associated with planning committee for St. Pius X building program, an instrumental member and starter of the Adoration Chapel. A modest and humble servant who served many faithfully, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, family man and friend to many. He was a member of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy Ministry, who while he himself was dying; spent time praying for the souls of others. He lived an honorable, loving and generous life for more than 89 years. He is now at peace with the maker of his soul and has reached the ultimate and final destination. His final words were, "I am leaving my true love (Bebe) to go to my one true love."

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bebe Holladay Falgout; son David Falgout and his wife Carol; two daughters Lindy Soileau and her husband Richard Fisher and Susette Hunt and her husband Don; three brothers, Ralph "Brother Neri" Falgout, Leroy Falgout and Warren Falgout; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Falgout (Angie), Theresa Falgout, Adam Falgout (Erin), Jacob Falgout, Sarah Falgout, Stephanie Falgout, Erinn Utter, Kristen Naquin and Matthew Soileau;and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by son, Tim Falgout and brother, Byron Falgout.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Friday February 12, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to: St. Pius X Building Fund, 201 East Bayou Parkway, Lafayette, LA.
