The Life of Jo Ann Scotola

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette for JoAnn Lalumandier Scotola, age 81, who died peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by her children.

Entombment will be in the Lafayette Memorial Park Peace Chapel Mausoleum.

Reverend Michael J. Russo, Pastor, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be her children.

Survivors include her husband, Philip C. Scotola of Lafayette; two daughters, Tina Viator and her husband, Todd, of Broussard, and Phylis Scotola of Lafayette; one son, Perry Scotola of Lafayette; and four grandsons, Philip, Gerard, Matthew and Christopher Viator.

She was preceded in death by one son, Philip S. Scotola; her parents, Joseph B. Lalumandier and the former Marietta Hoover; two sisters, Geneva Lalumandier, Mary Winston; and four brothers, Percy Lalumandier, Henry Lalumandier, Joseph Lalumandier, Jr. and Arthur Lalumandier.

A native of Lufkin, TX and a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for most of her life, JoAnn was the Personnel Director of Lafayette Charity Hospital and retired after the opening of University Medical Center. She was a devout Catholic, a superb Mother and Grandmother, and left a legacy of gentle love and strength.

Pallbearers will be Perry Scotola, Todd Viator, Philip Viator, Gerard Viator, Matthew Viator and Christopher Viator.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Piccione, Edgar Casper III, Dr. Federico DelToro, Dr. Juan Ziek, Dr. Steven Simpson, Dr. Jody Rosson, Dr. Henry Kaufman, Dr. Christopher Lagraize and Dr. James Dobbs.

The Scotola Family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Lafayette General Medical Center for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Scotola in her time of need.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of the service.

A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made in JoAnn''s name to the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Avenue, Lafayette, LA 70501.
