The Life of Raymond Joseph James

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers with Elder Michael Madden of Lafayette West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Military honors will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be observed on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 8:00 AM until the time of service.

Raymond Joseph James was born on July 13, 1955 to the late John Chester James, Sr. and Mary Maizel Henry James in St. Martinville, LA.

Raymond was a graduate of Holy Rosary Class of 1973, as well as the drum major from 1972-1973. He worked for AGI Industries until the time of his illness. Raymond''s favorite pass time was God''s word the Bible, watching TV, reading the newspaper, yard work and spending time with his grand-dog.

Raymond was united in matrimony to Gladys Judy George James on November 11, 1978. To this union two children were born. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, John Chester James, Jr. and his sister, Laura Anne James. He leaves to cherish his lifetime memories with his beloved wife of 37 years; one son Brockta Dywone; one daughter Starlette Yvonne James Cola; five grandchildren, Kensley, Rondo, Kennedy, Leasia and Sheridan; four sisters, Mary Agnes Lee, Sandra Berard of St. Martinville, LA, Betty James Malveaux, Mary Maizel Hill (Albert Sr.) of New Iberia, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jody Rosson, Jr. and his partners and the staff of LGMC for their passionate care.
