The Life of Emery Broussard

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Emery Broussard, age 95, who died on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend William Schambough, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Joshua K. Broussard and Christopher Michael Broussard. Eulogist will be Aimee Elizabeth Broussard. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, “Amazing Grace”, “Ave Maria”, “Taste and See” and “J’irai la voir un Jour”.

Survivors includes his wife of 69 years, Audrey Campbell Broussard; a daughter, Thelma Broussard; one son Linwood J. Broussard and his wife Shirley; his grandchildren, Aimee E. Broussard, Christopher M. Broussard, Joshua K. Broussard, Gaynell Broussard, Sharon Likes, Damon Evans and Brandon Harrington; great grandchildren, Xavier Broussard, Annie Broussard, Wyatt Broussard, Jaden Broussard, Alyssa Broussard, Kaelyn Broussard, Kaitlyn Barnes, Ashton Evans, Andrew Evans, Samantha Evans, Cory Stutes, Vince Stutes, Nicole Winch and Marcus Broussard; and eleven great-great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obrey and Alice Trahan Broussard; his stepson, Nolan Harrington; two brothers, Dupre Broussard and Aristile Broussard; and grandsons, Daniel Abshire and Brent Stutes.

Mr. Broussard was a native of Maurice and a resident of Milton. He was a veteran of military service, having served honorably in the United States Army during World World II 1944-1946. He retired in 1983 from UMC, as a Supervisor of Linen Service and he also worked as a Farmer throughout his life. He was a very accomplished musician but his true passion was playing the accordion. He played for many house parties (Soirée) for family and friends and loved the Bourré games. At Cornerstone South he played his classic cajun music for the residence until the time of his death.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Broussard, Joshua Broussard, Xavier Broussard, Damon Evans, Isaac Smith and Ernest Ray Trahan.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wyatt Broussard and Rudy Guidry.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.

The Broussard Family would like to thank the staff at Cornerstone South for the loving care they provided to Mr. Emery in his time of need.
