The Life of Lois Mae Foret

Funeral Services for Lois Landess Foret will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers, 1011 Bertrand Drive with Rev. Bob Ogle officiating. The Christian Burial will follow in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery. The reception will follow at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3001 Verot School Road, Lafayette in the fellowship hall.
Lois Mae Landess Foret, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on January 12, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette , Louisiana. She was born on September 20, 1933 in Port Allen, Louisiana to Dr. Dantan Wyeth Landess, M.D. and Ruby Donell.
The family request your presence in the celebration of her life on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette from 11:00 am until the time of service.
Lois Landess Foret''s life was an extraordinary one. She lived life to its fullest from beginning to end. She was particularly proud of being from West Baton Rouge Parish; specifically Port Allen, LA. She was a graduate of Port Allen High School class of 1952 where amongst many things, she was involved in volleyball, basketball, cheerleading and the drama team. She later attended LSU, where as a student she became involved in the AOπ Sorority of which she was a very active member embracing the legacy of sister-hood throughout her entire life; even serving as president. She also took great joy in achieving her graduate degree from LSU in Speech Pathology. Later, teaching at SLI (now ULL), dedicating her life to the rehabilitation of those whose voice the world had yet to hear.
After being married and in the process of raising a young family, she became involved in many different endeavors. She was a member of the Lafayette Bar Association Auxiliary. She also opened and managed her business, Maison Du Vin for more than ten years, bringing to Lafayette a sense of elegance and passion for the finer things in life.
Being a devout Christian and her strong desire to put her faith in action, she joined First Presbyterian Church of Lafayette where she was later commissioned to help charter and establish a new church community toward the Youngsville area, given the name Trinity Presbyterian Church which still stands strong over 25 years later. Continuing in her journey of faith, after her husband''s retirement, she was asked to be the "Mother''s Day Out" music teacher for preschoolers and toddlers at Grace Presbyterian Church. Lois'' love for all children of any age, especially this age group, reflected her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.- "Let all the children come unto me." This was her legacy - this was her life. Lois Mae Landess Foret was truly a woman of beauty, elegance and class!!
She is survived by her beloved three children Maura Leith Foret Duhon, Laird Pierre Foret and Danielle Cherie Foret Cliburn; two grandchildren Cohl Christian Cliburn and Ellyson Morgan Foret; her mother Andrea Henderson; two son-in-laws Robert "Bobby" Lantz Cliburn and James Patrick Duhon and sister Lee Wyeth Landess Rowen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Norman Pierre Foret who passed away on November 28, 2015; sister Cherie Myown Landess and brother George Allen Landess.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Foret, Dantan Landess, Michael Landess, John Wells, Paul Wells, James P. Duhon and Robert "Bobby" Cliburn.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her honor be made to: Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3001 Verot School Road, Lafayette, LA 70508 or any charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Hospice of Acadiana for the loving and compassionate care of our mother.
Arrangements are under the direction of Delhomme Funeral Home, Lafayette.
