The Life of David Lynn Kennedy

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015, at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville for David Lynn “D.K.” Kennedy, 51, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, in Midland, Texas. Reverend Jason Mouton, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Brenda Richard and Sam Kennedy, Jr. Giftbearers will be Adrien Kennedy, Ashlyn Kennedy and Hudson Silvas. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace," "Be Not Afraid," "Here I Am Lord" and "I Can Only Imagine."

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

David was a native of Lafayette, LA and long-time resident of Youngsville, LA. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of over 29 years, Catherine Renee “Cathi” Richards Kennedy of Youngsville; his children, Alison Renee Kennedy and her fiancé, Jesse Hayes, of Coteau Holmes, Aaron Todd Kennedy of Midland, TX, Adrien Lynn Kennedy and Ashlyn Elizabeth Kennedy both of Youngsville; his granddaughter, Spencer Marie; his mother, Della M. Hebert Kennedy; his brother, Samuel F. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife Jackie of Youngsville, his sisters, Brenda S. Kennedy Richard and her husband Tom of Scott, and Janet E. Kennedy Silvas and her husband Ruben of Youngsville; his Godchild, Lucinda Kennedy; and extended family members.

His beloved father, Samuel F. Kennedy, Sr., preceded him in death.

David was a loyal employee of Baker Hughes for over 25 years. His last position was as the Permian DS AMO Manager. He traveled extensively to many countries and states for his job and with his family. He developed and maintained friendships throughout the world. David worked in Lafayette, LA; Broussard, LA; Casper, WY; Anchorage, AK; Angola, Africa; Australia; Brazil; Canada; Germany; Kazakhstan; Malaysia; Mexico; Singapore; United Arab Emirates; Venezuela; United Kingdom; Sakhalin Island, Russia; West Papua, Indonesia; Noyabrsk, Russia; and Midland, TX.

Throughout his career, he continued to complete courses and classes after graduating from college. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. David was kind-hearted and generous. His hobbies included camping, fishing, crabbing, music, playing his guitar, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Kennedy, Adrien Kennedy, Sam Kennedy, Jr., Michael Silvas, Tom Richard and Jesse Hayes. Honorary pallbearers, Ruben Silvas, Glenn Richards, Richard Pitre, and John "Big John" Fremin.

Friends will be received at Martin & Castille Funeral Home’s SOUTHSIDE location on E. Farrel Road in Lafayette on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will resume on Monday at 8:00 AM until time of services.

A Rosary will be recited by the Knights of Columbus on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 6:00 PM.
