Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11:00 AM for James W. Krantz, 82, with Father Howard Blessing as celebrant. Mr. Krantz passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. Military honors will follow immediately after the service at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, was stationed in Germany, and received the marksmanship medal. He earned a Bachelors Degree from the College of Agriculture at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he met the love of his life Bethia. He was a respected business owner and member of the Lafayette community where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the National Audubon Society, member and former president of the Lafayette Civitan Club. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved being with his family. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, conservation and traveling.

Mr. Krantz, a resident of Lafayette, raised in Krotz Springs was the son of the late Onezime "Bess" Krantz and the former Lucille Ducote. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Bethia Mueller Krantz; children, Lisa Krantz Hesse and husband James of Needville, TX, Jacqueline Krantz of Fort Worth, TX, John W. Krantz and wife Ashlie of Lafayette and James W. Jimmy Krantz and wife Emili of Austin, TX; his ten grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Mary, Kelly, Virginia, Emily, Jordan, Anna, Joseph, Isabel; and two great grandchildren, Hardy and Helen; his three siblings, Paul Rodney, Amelia, and Albert.

He was preceded in death by parents and sisters Eula and Marie.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Bertrand on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue Monday. December 7, 2015 from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
