A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church for Jose Luis "Taco” Flores, 48.

Reverend Steve Leblanc, Pastor of St. Pius X Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass.

Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Taco, a resident of Lafayette, was the son of the late Jose Flores and the former Juanita Urdiales.

On November 17, 2015, the digital glow of the radio lights dimmed at 5am as a beautiful soul left the world a much kinder gentler place. Luis “Taco” Flores passed away peacefully at his home in Lafayette, LA. Taco came into this world on June 5, 1967.

He was a loving son, brother, father and friend that touched so many lives around him. Taco spent 30 of the 48 years of his life with Cumulus Broadcasting. But this simple statement doesn’t begin to encompass who he was. Taco was also the gentle giant working security at city wide events at the Cajundome and UL games. He was the smiling face driving the Giant KSMB Jambox during parades. He was the person who would always lend a helping hand, or a strong arm, or an open mind to listen or assist. He not only befriended his direct co-workers, but all who worked in the media world in our community. His was the voice that always said “Yes”, “I can” and “never give up”. And give up he didn’t. He fought bravely so he could spend as much time as possible with family and friends.

His kind, rare nature left a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Luis “Taco” Flores leaves behind two sons, Caleb Joseph Stelly, 14 and Jacob Luis Flores, 11; Siblings, Ricky Flores and wife Kathleen, Nina Thibodeaux and husband Joseph, Daniel Flores and wife Susan; Nieces, Allison Baggerly, Millicent Flores and Christina Flores; Nephews, Nicholas Flores, Nathan and Christopher Thibodeaux and his loving mother, Juanita U. Flores. He was preceded in death by his father Jose’ C. Flores.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
