The Life of Barbara Johnson

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Barbara Bordelon Johnson, age 64, who died on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at her residence in Carencro.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Keith Landry, Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Cow Island, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Ilene Bordelon and Jenny Badeaux. Giftbearers will be her two daughters, Robin Racca and Brandy Thorning. Stephanie Hoffpauir, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Psalm 23", "Ave Maria", "Pie Jesu" and "How Great Thou Art".

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Ronald Johnson; two daughters, Robin Racca and Brandy Thorning; two grandchildren, Zephyr Jude Racca and Emma Hiie Thorning; step daughters, Kimberly Carter and her husband Johnny, Tina Wilkinson and her husband Aaron, Heather Goleman and her husband Darren, Misty Austin and her husband Bobby and Brandi Nichols and her husband Brian; 15 step grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; seven sisters, Margaret Sue Despino, Shirley Stroud, Judi Masters, Debra Goleman, Grace McMillan, Roseanna Tanner and Sheena Robertson; and three brothers, Joseph "Bubba" Bordelon, Aubrey "Sac" Bordelon and Francis Ougley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane Smith Sargent and Silton "Carlue" Bordelon; one sister, Kimberlee Bordelon Strange; one brother, Sammy Bordelon and a son-in-law, Andre'' Jude Racca.

Barbara was born on December 22, 1950 in Galveston, Texas and was a resident of Carencro, Louisiana.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Andrus, Marcus Andrus, Scott Andrus, Moxey Bordelon, Kenneth Lester and Micah Thorning.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 1:00 PM to until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 6:30 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home by Brady LeBlanc.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Hospice Compassus Staff for their dedicated compassionate care, especially to her nurse, Jill.
