The Life of Zerben Joseph Albert

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015, at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, for Zerben Joseph Albert, age 85, who died on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at his residence in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Neil Pettit, Associate Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Carol Ann Perrio and Cynthia Prejean. Giftbearers are Becky Broussard and Ali Albert. Eulogist will be Reid Lejeune.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Rowena Theresa Richey Albert; two sons, Rickey J. Albert and wife Victoria, and David W. Albert; one daughter, Lisa Cecile LeBlanc and husband Allen; his brother, Carroll Albert; his sisters, Gertrude Mouton and Lula Mae Landry; and his grandchildren, Ali Albert, Corey Albert and Grant LeBlanc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aymar J. Albert and Cecile Laviolette Albert; his daughter in law, Karen Albert; his brothers, Harry, Clarence, Newton, and Cleopha Albert; and his sister, Claire Gary.

A native of St. Martinville, Zerben moved to Lafayette at the age of 10 where he lived most of his life, having moved to Breaux Bridge with his daughter for the last four years. He served his country honorably in the Navy during the Korean War (1952-1956). He retired from Abdalla''s Department Store in 1994 after 30 years of loyal service. His joys were traveling, gardening, fishing, exercising, and camping. He will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers will be Corey Albert, Allen LeBlanc, Michael Mouton, Kenneth Mouton, David Albert and Harry Albert.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Carroll Albert, Grant LeBlanc and Rickey Albert.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed by Paul Broussard on Sunday at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
