The Life of Raymond Joseph Theriot

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Raymond Joseph Theriot, 78, who passed away at Lafayette General Hospital on October 14, 2015.

Father Michael DeBlanc of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, Lafayette, LA., will officiate the service. Eucharistic minister will be cousin, Kate Helo. Gift bearers will be sisters, Louise Fruge and Yvette Leger. Readers will be niece Nicole Fruge and nephew David Laine Leger. Eulogy will be given by sister Margrit Cavalli. Organist and Soloist will be Jodi Bollich. Hymns offered will be “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord’s Prayer”, “How Great Thou Art”, “Be Not Afraid” and “Old Rugged Cross”.

Interment will be at Lafayette Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be nephews Philip Fruge, Jody Leger, David Laine Leger, Jaime Paul Leger, Shane Leger, and Lance Theriot. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews Jared Leger, Stephen Waits, John Paul “Johnny” Hebert and Blake Theriot.

Raymond was born on June 16, 1937 in Lafayette, LA. He was a lifelong resident of Lafayette and attended Cathedral School. He lived with his mother until her death in 1998. He enjoyed family, friends, Zydeco music, dancing, and frequenting his favorite places -- Randol’s, Vermilionville, and Mulate’s. He was extremely proud of his French heritage. He loved people and never forgot their names.

Survivors include his sisters, Louise Theriot Fruge of Houston, TX, Yvette Theriot Leger of Lafayette, LA, and Margrit Jacques Cavalli of Kingwood, TX.; his brother, Joseph Paul “J.P.” Theriot of Arnauldville, LA; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Paul Theriot of Lafayette, LA; his mother, Eva Jacques Theriot of Lafayette, LA., and his brother, John A. Hebert of Tooele, Utah.
The family wishes to thank the following: Oncologist Dr. Joseph Brierre, Family Physician Dr. Troy Martin, and the staff of The Louisiana Office For Developmental Disabilities, Lafayette, LA. and Gulf Coast Teaching Family Services, Inc., Lafayette, LA.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers.

Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
