The Life of Warren "Pete" Deason Rush

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm at St. Mary Mother of the Church for Warren Deason "Pete" Rush, 80, who passed away on Monday, August 24, 2015.

Reverend Harold Trahan will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Con-celebrants will be Reverend Steve LeBlanc, and Revevernd Joseph Brennan. Gift bearers will be his grandchildren Olivia Estelle Rush and Allison Jeanette Alford. The Eulogist will be his son-in-law David J. Calogero.

Interment will be at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.

Mr. Rush was born in Hattiesburg, MS to Chester and Clara (Benton) Rush and moved with his family to Lafayette when he was two years old. He graduated from Lafayette High School, UL-Lafayette (formerly SLI) and Louisiana State University School of Law. In law school he was a member of Gamma Eta Gamma, National Honor Legal Society and Chairman of Moot Court. He practiced law in Lafayette for 50 years and was very proud to have practiced with four of his children. He was a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana State Bar Association and Lafayette Bar Association. He was admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts as well as in the United States District Courts for the Western, Eastern and Middle Districts of Louisiana, Firth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He enjoyed developing real estate and built the Lafayette Hilton and Tower, Pinhook Office Building, Pinhook Towers, Square 224, Superior Building and several buildings in Houston.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Jeanette Barras Rush; five children, Charles M. Rush and wife Carla, Gina Rush Calogero and husband David, James A. Rush, Mary Jeanette Rush Alford and husband David, and Robert L. Rush and wife Dana; eleven grandchildren, David Alexander Calogero, Andrew Warren Calogero, Jon Tyler Rush, Nicholas Charles Rush, Matthew Alexander Rush, Joshua Deason Rush, Eric Anderson Alford, Patrick Rush Alford, Allison Jeanette Alford, Olivia Estelle Rush and Graham Alexander Rush; and his two sisters, Audrey Rush Powers and Esther Rush Ives.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clara Benton Rush and Chester Lawrence Rush, and his brothers Earl Rush and Morris Rush.

Pallbearers will be his nine grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are Jack Patin, Byron Begneaud, Dwight Andrus, Jr., Ronald Andrus, Marc Cruise, William Vidrine, Kenneth Vidrine, Robert Torian, David Rush, Brian Rush, Timothy Rush and Dr. Jack Kouloheris.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home, Lafayette on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 8:30 am until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
