Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Walter E "Gene" Thompson, Jr., 75, who passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Lafayette, LA
Brother James Craft, PhD, of Calvary Baptist Church will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Gene, a resident of Scott, LA was the son of the late Walter E. Thompson, Sr., and the former Lillie Bell Simmons.
Gene was a veteran having serving in the Louisiana National Guard for eight years; he retired from Winn Dixie as a Seafood Manager after serving many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty one years, Ruby Martin Thompson; his children, Rusty Thibodeaux and wife Julie, Paul Thibodeaux and wife Rochelle, Danny Thompson and wife Ellen, Tonya Terwillegar and husband Josh, Danica Warner and David J Thompson and wife Jennifer; his grandchildren, Eric Thibodeaux and wife Emily, Kevin Thibodeaux, Sarah Thibodeaux and her daughter, Haley Thibodeaux, Hannah Vidrine and husband Jordan, Emily Thibodeaux, Timothy and his sister Danny Jo Thompson, Haidee Meche, Gunnar Terwillegar, Dawson and his sister Dharma Warner.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday, August 22, 2015 from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Thibodeaux, Paul Thibodeaux, David Thompson, Eric Thibodeaux, Blaine Stevens, and Hunter Duplantis.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
