The Life of Henrietta Gutierrez

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette for Henrietta Tomsco Gutierrez, 77, who passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at her residence with her family by her side.

Entombment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Reverend Taj Glodd, Associate Pastor of St. Pius X Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Matt and Sandy Snow. Giftbearers will be Valerie Willis, Erica Gutierrez and David Gutierrez.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 56 years, Ned Gutierrez; one daughter, Tanya Moreau and husband Sonny; two sons, Shawn Gutierrez and wife Judy, and LTC (ret) Robert Gutierrez and wife Jen; seven grandchildren, Valerie, Jessica, Erica, Christian, Sara, David and Hope; four great grandchildren, Autumn, Austin, Alexander and Savannah; and her brother, Edward Tomsco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elsie Devich Tomsco; her son, Joaquin Gutierrez; and her sister, Margaret Snow.

Henrietta was a native of Raton, New Mexico and a Lafayette resident since 1970. She was the co-owner of Pinhook Cameras, later Spectrum Photo in Lafayette, receiving the Small Business Persons of the Year Award in 1996. She was a parishioner of the St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was a member of the St. Pius Rosary Group and the Adoration Ministry. Henrietta was a loving supporter of her children and all of her grandchildren in their various activities such as sports, academics, dance, theatre and music. She also enjoyed monthly participation and friendship with her Pokeno Group. Henrietta will best be remembered for her love of family, her faith, her Christmas cookie baking, and her ability to make others always feel welcomed when in her presence.

Pallbearers will be Brian Durant, Christian Gutierrez, Huey Morgan, LTC (ret) John Purcell, Carlos Barberena and Herb Toal.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Matt Snow.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of services.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Gutierrez family to Hospice of Acadiana, Dr. Chancellor Donald, the Oncology Department of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Miles Perret Cancer Services, and all those who have visited and prayed for Henrietta during her time of need.
