The Life of Harold Edgar Richard
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday June 16, 2015 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Harold E. "Pee Wee" Richard, 79, who passed away on Saturday June 13, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Deacon J. Douglas Melancon, of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, LA, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Harold, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the son of the late Felix Richard and the former Agnes Dalton.
After graduating from Lafayette High, Harold began the path of a long time business owner. After opening the first satellite dealership in the state, Harold became the president of the Louisiana Satellite Dealers Association and was later appointed to the Louisiana State Licensing Board. Known as "Pee Wee" to family and friends, Harold will be remembered for his great sense of humor. In his later years, Harold enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren play and grow. His kindness and willingness to help others will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty nine years, Carolyn McClure Richard, his children, Keith Guidroz and wife Sandra, Michael Richard and wife Sheila, Danny Richard and spouse Andrew Morgan, Pam Deel and husband Darwin, Kathy Benoit and husband Scott, Linda Hebert and husband Chad, Marty Richard and wife Bethany, Paul Richard and wife Sandy, Kevin Richard and wife Stacey. His twenty three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren. His brother, Herman Richard and wife Mary Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, David Richard, his sisters, Barbara Nell Hernandez and Ella Mae Richard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Monday June 15, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Tuesday June 16, 2015 from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Keith Guidroz, Michael Richard, Danny Richard, Marty Richard, Paul Richard and Kevin Richard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert "Bobby" Delahoussaye, Floyd Domingue, Gerald Joseph Guidry, Lionel Jeanmard and Jack Patin.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Fourth Floor, Doctors and Staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their love and compassionate care.
