The Life of Ruth Elaine Pierret
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in St. Edmond Catholic Church for Ruth Elaine Pierret, 92, who passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass.
Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Ruth, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the daughter of the late Rene'' Rabalais and the former Agnes Conques.
During World War II she served as a telephone operator in Lafayette, LA, Miami, FL and Mobile AL. She was a wonderful cook and everyone knew her by her crawfish pies, guinea gumbo and her crawfish bisque. She loved to go fishing with her son and her husband. Ruth loved to listen to her forties and fifties music and dance to it with her husband. She took pride in raising and breeding her guinea fowl for over ten years and also growing her day lillies. She loved to go to the casinos with her partner in crime, the late sister Dorothy Sonnier. Ruth and her husband loved to travel the world, especially Las Vegas. In her household Fox News and TCM old black and white movies were constantly shown on the TV. She always looked forward to the holidays and special occasions to spend time with her family and friends. She was very loving, kind, and a giving person.
Ruth is survived by her children, Glynn Paul Pierret and wife Cheryl, Rae Elaine Maeso and husband Joaquin, Jeannie Claire P. Poirrier and husband Uray, Julie Ann P. Crawford and husband James "Jaime", Patrick John Pierret and wife Susan; her grandchildren, Joni Claire Constantine, Zackary Paul Pierret, Melissa Ann Salvatierra, Jana Claire Seneca, Jenny Claire Baudoin, James Bruce Crawford, II, Amber Lynn Pierret, Janie Claire Pothier, Jacqueline Claire Poirrer, Alexus "Lexy" Marie Crawford, John Paul Pierret, Gabriel Patrick Garret Pierret and her great grandchildren, Benjamin Paul Pierret, Grace Elizabeth Pierret, Emily Ann Pierret, Johanna Claire Pothier, Kynlie Marie Baudoin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rene'' Rabalis and Agnes Conques Rabalais; her husband, Voorhies Paul "VP" Pierret; her son, Larry James Pierret; her granddaughter, Jennifer Claire Gautreaux; her sisters, Dolores Larriviere and Dorothy Sonnier and her brothers, Robert Rabalais and Ray Rabalais.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Monday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 9:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Zackary Pierret, James Crawford, II, John Paul Pierret, Peter Salvatierra, Brandon Constantine, Joshua Pothier, Charles "Clay" Baudoin and Corey Seneca.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
