The Life of Turney Joseph Simon

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette for Turney J. Simon, age 88, who died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Fairpark Healthcare in Maryville, Tennessee.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Giftbearers will be Howard Champagne and Kaite Stockton. Lector will be Jessie Stockton. Karen Broussard, organist, will sing for the services, "Amazing Grace", "Yahweh Is My Shepherd Now", "On Eagles'' Wings", "J''irai la voir un jour", and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Lauren Baker, violinist, will perform "The Lovers'' Waltz".

Survivors include his four daughters, Sadie McDaniel and her husband, Alan of Maryville, TN, Glinda LeBlanc and her husband, Bradley of Lafayette, Judy Touchet of Lafayette and Darlene Ritchey and her husband, Brian of Lafayette, LA.; seven grandchildren, Jessie Stockton, Steven Duhon, Kelly LeBlanc, Kristen LeBlanc, Kevin LeBlanc, Cody Ritchey and Ethan Ritchey; four step grandchildren, Summer Ladner, Jonathon Ritchey, Scott McDaniel and Ginny Summers, twelve great grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Boutin of Lafayette; and one brother, Howard Champagne and wife Barbara of Lafayette.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Lilly Landry Simon; his parents, Sydney J. Simon and Odelia Simon: two brothers, Gladu Simon and Dalferes Simon; three sisters, Leah Simon, Dorothy Broussard, and Doris Thibodeaux; one grandson, Torrey Broussard; and one great granddaughter, Amber Lynn LeBlanc.

A resident of Maryville, Tennessee for the last four years, Mr. Simon was a native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was talented woodworker and musician who enjoyed playing the accordian and his guitar. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Pallbearers are Kevin LeBlanc, Steven Duhon, Cody Ritchey, Ethan Ritchey, Zachary Stockton and Carey Stockton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kelly LeBlanc, Everett McDonald, Howard Champagne and James Simon.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.

A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
