The Life of Jimmie Munro

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 at a 2:00 PM Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Jimmie Munro, age 94, who died on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at his residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.

Brother Charles "Charlie" Giuffrida will officiate the services.

Survivors include three daughters, Marjorie Munro Giuffrida and her husband, Charles, Myra Munro Fabacher and her husband, Daniel, Jr., and Peggy Munro Migues; one son, Michael James Munro; thirteen grandchildren; Michelle Jones, Monica Judice, Michael Munro, Jr., Myndal Munro, Leigh Brooks Parich, Bethany Brooks Toups, Rachel Bordelon, Caresse Fabacher, Brady Fabacher, Britni Hebert, Brock Migues, Philip Brandon Migues, and Brooke Migues; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by one step-daughter, Cindy Dupont; three step-sons, James W. Butler, John R. Butler and Jay L. Butler; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ella Boatwright Munro; the mother of his children, Evelyn Naomi Munro; two brothers, Loren Scotty Munro and John C. Munro; one son-in-law, Philip J. Migues.

He was also preceded in death by the mother of his step-children, Edith Rudge Munro; and one step-daughter, Cheryl Lynn Butler.

Jimmie Munro was a native of Austin, Texas and a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was a member of the United States Army who proudly served his country in the 598th Bomb Squadron during WWII, and was a member of the 410 Bomb Group. He worked as a Directional Driller in the Oilfield all his life until his retirement. As a young man, Mr. Munro was very athletic and enjoyed playing sports, which he carried that love of sports into adulthood. He also was an animal lover. Mr. Munro will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Myndal Munro, Brock Migues, Brandon Migues, Brady Fabacher, Quinton Jones, and Hayden Judice. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Munro, Danny Fabacher, Charlie Giuffrida, and Tim Brooks.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s DOWNTOWN location on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
