The Life of Dorothy Jean Sonnier
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, December 29, 2014 in the Delhomme Funeral Home Chapel of the Flowers for Dorothy Jean Sonnier, 77, who passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 7:35 pm at the Allen Parish Hospital in Kinder, LA
Reverend O. Joseph Breaux, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass.
Burial will take place in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery.
Dorothy, a resident of Lafayette, LA was the daughter of the late Rene Rabalais and the former Agnes Conques.
She was a mother first and foremost. The ultimate nurturer. She gave all of herself to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves behind a huge emptiness. When a mother''s love is that strong it takes an even stronger belief and love to fill that void. She filled everyone''s emptiness with this unconditional love. She created the strongest bond among her children who only hope to love so givingly to those they leave behind.
She is survived by her children, David Scott Sonnier and wife Elizabeth, Lori S Courville and husband Vernon, Troy Mike Sonnier and wife Cathy, Dean Paul Sonnier and wife Sharline and Kelly Ruth Sonnier; her grandchildren, Clay Sonnier, Joey Sonnier, Alicia Brattin, Steven Sonnier, Ryan Courville, Rachael Sonnier, Jackson Sonnier, Shawntelle Bergeron and Cassidy Champagne; her great grandchildren, Hunter Martin, Tyler Sonnier, Randi Martin, Trinity Sonnier, Jace Sonnier, Catie Sonnier, Haze Sonnier, Connor Brattin, Caiden Goulas, Kynlie Champagne, Kaylie Champagne, Harper Bergeron, Hadley Bergeron and Demi Bergeron; her sister and partner in crime, Ruth R. Pierret; her brother, Ray Rabalais and wife Cathy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of forty two years Jerrel Paul Sonnier; one granddaughter Rachael Michelle Sonnier; her sister Delores Larriviere and brother Robert Rabalais.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand Drive on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 8:00 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Clay Sonnier, Joey Sonnier, Jack Sonnier, Steven Sonnier, Ryan Courville, Jeff Brattin and Joey Wuertenberg.
