The Life of Cordia Geraldine Chappell
Geraldine (Jerry) Chappell passed away peacefully into eternity on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. Jerry was 90 years old. A native of Conroe,Texas born July 19, 1924, she has resided in Lafayette, Louisiana since 1959.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM in Martin & Castille''s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in South Lafayette.
Inurnment will be in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Luther Burney, Assistant Pastor of First Baptist Church in Lafayette will conduct the funeral services.
Jerry is survived by three daughters; Kathy C. Hopkins, Janie C. Hill and her husband Dennie, Connie C. Walker and her husband Richard; one son Jeff Chappell and his wife Peggy, and daughter-in-law Sherry Chappell.
She was preceded in death by her husband Loren W. Chappell, a son James H. Chappell; her parents, James Neal and the former Cynthia Ann Teal; granddaughter, Debbie Hopkins, and great granddaughter Peyton Ardoin.
Jerry was a grandmother of 16, great-grandmother of 35, and great-great grandmother of 2. She was an active member of The First Baptist Church of Lafayette, and loved being a member of the sanctuary choir for many years.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille''s SOUTHSIDE location on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service.
The family would like to thank the Hospice Staff at Amedysis for their care in Jerry''s final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geraldine Chappell''s name to your choice of favorite charities.
