The Life of Louis "L. C." Charles Melchior
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette, for L. C. Melchior, 73, who passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at his home in Lafayette.
Interment will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
A lifetime resident of Lafayette, L.C. devoted his life to remembering and preserving the history of our area. A radio personality for countless years and a devoted member of Sigma Nu, he was known as a walking encyclopedia of local lore and loved talking to different organizations and sharing his wealth of information with anyone who would listen. Best known for his trademark dark sunglasses and side belt buckle, L.C. loved animals and cherished his time with his grandchildren, who knew him as Poppy. L.C. was always ready with his quick witted humor and contagious laugh. We will miss his smile and his corny jokes, but we know that he is entertaining everyone in Heaven! One of his favorite jokes that he told with impeccable delivery will always be etched into our hearts. “Guess who’s in the hospital? Sick people!” It never got old. His love of life will never be forgotten and he will be missed every day.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Grace Domingue Melchior; two children, Rochelle Dupuie and her husband Tre'' Dupuie and Charles Melchior and his wife Michelle Melchior; and six grandchildren, Ella Dupuie, Audrey Dupuie, Andi Melchior, Everette Melchior, Emmy Romero, Ella Romero and one grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Joseph and Olive Aucoin Melchior.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Tre'' Dupuie, Charles Melchior, Ken Meaux, Robert Rossier, Johnny Abdella and Allen Thibeaux.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, LA is in charge of funeral arrangements.
